Dear Scouters and Supporters
I’m delighted to announce the appointment of your new District Commissioner in Arundel and Littlehampton from the 1st September 2015
Mark Hewson, who most of you will know has been holding the fort since Nigel’s departure in April.
Happily married to Janet, they have four adult children (3 of which have yet to fly the nest!!) and a 6 month old granddaughter on whom they both dote.
Mark has his own business and has been self-employed for the last 5½ years, working as a project manager and management consultant, he specialises in the field of Social Housing and Housing Associations and anything else that pays the mortgage.
Outside of scouting (is there life outside of Scouting?) Mark’s interests are his two labradors (Dyson and Hazel), family and friends.
Mark has strong Scouting roots and has been in the movement since the age of 8, and as a leader since the age of 20. He and Janet met through scouting when they were at the same group in Hampshire where Jan was an ACSL and Mark was the Scout Leader. Demonstrating true dedication to an already planned summer camp the couple spent their honeymoon in separate tents in South Wales!
Having held various roles over the years including GSL at 1st Yapton & Ford his most recent appointment has been as DDC Support for Arundel and Littlehampton. However Mark is probably best known in A&L for his work with the district band which he has supported for the last 15 years in both a playing and administrative capacity.
I personally would like to welcome him to the County Management team and thank him for taking up the new challenge as DC. I know Mark is very much looking forward to leading the merry band that is Arundel & Littlehampton District and I hope you will support him develop and grow the District going forward.
Irene – County Commissioner
